The Cooperative Dance Education Centre in Berlin is again accepting students

In the 2010 academic year the Cooperative Dance Education Centre at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) and the School of Dramatic Arts “Ernst Busch“ (HfS) will be again accepting students.
Beginning on October 15th 2009, information on the BA course of study “Contemporary Dance, Context, Choreography”, the MA “Solo / Dance / Authorship (SODA)” and the MA “Choreography” will be available at the UdK Berlin and HfS websites.

The Cooperative Dance Education Centre – Pilot Project Tanzplan Berlin (HZT) developed a remarkable education in a cooperation between the UdK Berlin, the HfS and TanzRaumBerlin, the Berlin dance scene’s network. The HZT offers three practice-oriented and innovative courses of study for contemporary dance and choreography.

The HZT was established in 2006 with the goal of creating a qualified university education in the field of contemporary dance. Until the end of the pilot phase in March 2010 the centre is financed in equal parts by Tanzplan Deutschland, an initiative of the German Federal Cultural Foundation, and the Land of Berlin. When the four-year pilot project ends, the HZT will continue under the auspices of the UdK Berlin and the School of Dramatic Arts “Ernst Busch“ in cooperation with the TanzRaumBerlin network. This intent has been formalized in the university contracts with the Land of Berlin.

Kampnagel in Hamburg,  Jarrestr. 20, 22303 Hamburg

The DANCE CONGRESS 2009 will take place at Kampnagel in Hamburg from November 5th to 8th.

This second major meeting of experts from the most various areas of dance favours event-forms whose interdisciplinary contexts allow the interweaving of practice and theory. Aside from contributions by international artists and theorists, who will take a look at dance from a sociological, philosophical and cultural-historical perspective, the DANCE CONGRESS 2009 will first and foremost offer a large number of participatory formats such as lecture demonstrations, master classes, salons, and laboratories.

By ‘films of movement and dance’ is meant films in which the poetics of movement has a central role. In addition, particular attention will be paid to its musical and cinematographic aspects. Commercial music clips will not be accepted in this competition.

idill Prize of the French Community in Belgium

This prize will be given to the film that, in its constituent elements, is marked by excellence in all fields envisaged by idill: capture of movement, mastery in direction, musical creativity and stylistic innovation, understanding of the contemporary world and its ramifications.
Prize for Musical Creativity

This Prize will be awarded to the short film which will most have distinguished itself by the originality of the musical composition accompanying the film, and the symbiotic character of the latter with the cinematographic work.
Audience Prize

This prize will be awarded to the work that will have obtained the greatest number of votes from the audience, who will be able to choose via internet, from a short list drawn up by the jury of dance and film experts.
Prize for Innovation

This Prize will be given to the short film distinguished by the stylistic originality of its treatment and by the innovative character of its direction.
World Outlook Prize

This Prize will be given to the short film distinguished, in the view it has of dance, by its critical vision of the surrounding world.

idill is a co-production of:

Charleroi/Danses, La Gaîté Lyrique and Sadler's Wells, in partnership with Arte, with the support of the Ministry for the French Community in Belgium and in collaboration with Flagey (Brussels).
